Brent Housing Management employ a team of caretakers who are responsible for cleaning communal areas on your estate. Cleaning services for communal areas of buildings covered by caretakers include:

• sweeping hard surface areas
• washing floors, stairs and entrances
• cleaning lifts
• window cleaning (internal communal windows only)
• scheduled deep cleans (this is done by the Deep Cleaning team)

Our caretaking team work with our partners Continental Landscapes and Gristwood and Toms to maintain outside communal areas on council estates.

This includes:

• litter picking
• bulk waste (fly-tipping) clearance
• grass cutting
• maintaining hedges and shrub beds
• leaf clearance
• killing weeds
• tree maintenance

Your Estates Inspector carries out regular inspections to make sure ground maintenance works are up to standard. This service is not available for tenants living in converted houses with communal gardens. These areas are the responsibility of the tenants.

Report a problem

Use this service only for non-emergency problems with outdoor communal areas.

In case of an emergency including where a tree has fallen or is in danger of falling and you are concerned, call us immediately 020 8937 2400.

Parking on estates is limited and Brent Housing Management are currently reviewing parking enforcement on all estates. 

Consultation on the proposal to introduce a traffic management order has now closed and we will be writing to estates on an individual basis with the outcome of this consultation.

Those who chose to proceed with a traffic management order will be added to a programme and implementation will begin in 2022.

We have a number of garages across the borough, which anyone can rent.  

The garage waiting list is reviewed every 12 months, priority is given to council tenants. 

If there are no garages currently available in your desired area you can go onto the waiting list.  You should apply for as many garage sites as possible to cut the time you have to wait for a garage to become available. When a garage becomes vacant, we offer it to the person who has been on the waiting list the longest.

You can now keep track of your rent account, manage your payments and apply for a garage through My Account.

Don’t have an online account?

Creating an account is easy and only takes a couple of minutes. All you need to get started is an email address, to use as a login. We will then send you details on how to activate your account.

Register to My Account

You will need to activate your tenant services account the first time you log in.

To apply to rent a garage without logging in, contact us.

If you’re added to the waiting list, we will write to you to ask you to confirm that you wish to remain on the register. If you do not respond to this letter within 28 days your application will be cancelled.

What happens next

Once we have processed your application and found a garage in a suitable area, we will ask you to come to the office to sign for the garage.

You will need to bring your:

• driving licence
• vehicle registration certificate (log book)
• passport or birth certificate
• rent card (if you are a Brent Council tenant)
• proof of address such as an electricity, gas, water or phone bill or a bank statement from the last three months
• bank details so that we can set up a direct debit or standing order for rent payments.

We will photocopy your documents and return them to you in the meeting.

If you are a council tenant, we will check if there any rent arrears on your account. You will not be able to rent a garage if you owe us rent or any other money, such as Council Tax.

How much is the garage rent

Rent for garages has to be paid by an automated method such as a direct debit or standing order.

For those who are currently renting a garage, the charge you pay is reviewed annually and you will be written to directly with the amount charged in March of each year. 

You will be breaking the terms of your tenancy agreement if you abandon a vehicle on your estate.

An abandoned vehicle will be removed if it:

• is causing a public nuisance
• is untaxed 
• has no number plates
• has not been removed by the owner for a specified length of time.

If you want to report an abandoned vehicle, please give us as much information as possible to help us find it.

Report an abandoned vehicle

What we will do

• we will pass your report to the Brent Council Estate Inspector within 48 hours
• they will visit the vehicle and carry out an assessment within 5 working days
• we will ask the DVLA to check the registered owner of the vehicle
• if we can locate the registered keeper, we will write to them asking them to remove the vehicle within 15 days of the date on the letter
• if we can’t find the registered keeper the vehicle will be stickered
• if the vehicle is not removed then it will be taken away by Brent Council.

Exceptions

Any vehicle found to be in a dangerous state i.e. burnt out or all window broken will be removed within 24 hours of report.
