About Brent Housing Management

About Brent Housing Management

About Brent Housing Management

Brent Housing Management manages approximately 8,000 council homes, 4,000 leaseholds, and 31 Gypsy and Traveller pitches. We also provide management services to First Wave Housing and Investment for Brent Holdings, Supported Living and Temporary Accommodation.

Our commitment to resident involvement

At Brent Housing Management, we are committed to working in partnership with our tenants and leaseholders. Your experiences, insights, and feedback are essential in helping us shape, design, and improve the services you receive.

Our approach is guided by the Tenant and Leaseholder Engagement Strategy, which we consulted more than 100 residents on. It sets out the different ways residents can get involved and the commitments we make to ensure engagement is meaningful, inclusive and transparent.

Help shape housing services

There are a variety of ways for you or members of your household to get involved and shape the services that you receive. These include:

  • surveys and consultations
  • attending focus groups
  • joining or setting up a resident association for you block or estate
  • taking part in estate walkabouts with council officers
  • becoming a block champion
  • working as a group to scrutinise a service we deliver to make recommendations for improvements
  • being a mystery shopper
  • joining one of our panels or forums
  • attending the summer roadshow, tenant and leaseholder open days and other community engagement events.

These activities give you the opportunity to have a say in how your home and housing services are managed.

Panels and forums

We offer several groups where tenants and leaseholders can help shape housing services, scrutinise performance, and hold us to account.

Housing Management Advisory Board (HMAB)

The HMAB brings together tenants, officers, independent advisors and councillors to review performance, discuss priority areas, and advise on service improvements.

Leaseholder Forum

Held quarterly, the Leaseholder Forum provides leaseholders with the opportunity to raise issues, receive updates, and discuss service improvements directly with Brent Housing Management officers.

Young Tenant Panel

We want to hear from our young residents to better understand your experiences of our housing services. We are looking to set up a panel of 10–15 residents aged 18–25 who will meet quarterly to discuss upcoming projects, policies, and ideas, and to help shape how our housing services develop.

If you’re interested in getting involved and having your voice heard, please get in touch.

Complaints Handling Residents Panel

The panel meets bi-monthly to review our handling of complaints and provides independent feedback to ensure our process is fair, transparent, and continually improving. Their insight helps us learn from complaints and strengthen our process and accountability.

Annual Building Safety Meetings

Each year, we hold Building Safety Meetings with residents living in all 33 of our high rise blocks. These meetings give residents an opportunity to hear directly from our Building Safety and Housing Management teams about the work we are doing to keep their homes safe.

Through these groups, residents help ensure services reflect the needs and experiences of the people who use them.

Get involved

We want the voices of our tenants and leaseholders to represent Brent's communities, we want to make sure our sessions are inclusive and accessible by default but if there is a request you would like to make, please contact the Housing Engagement team directly.

If you’d like to get involved in any of the activities listed above, then please register your interest by emailing housingfeedback@brent.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can call 02089372400 and ask to speak to the Housing Engagement Team.

How your feedback is making a difference

We use your feedback to improve housing services and make changes that reflect residents’ experiences.

We are currently developing and reviewing housing and tenancy policies, including domestic abuse, damp and mould and property safety - take part and share your views.

Changes we’ve made so far

Damp and mould

Residents told us: They were unclear about responsibilities, experienced slow responses and poor communication, and felt issues were not always resolved.

We have:

  • developed a new Damp and Mould Policy which is currently out for consultation.
  • set out clearer responsibilities
  • recognised the importance of communication
  • recognised the impact on residents’ health and wellbeing

Anti-social behaviour

Residents told us: There were issues with how anti-social behaviour is reported, managed and resolved.

We are:

  • consulting on a new Anti-social Behaviour Policy
  • involving residents in shaping improvements

Complaints

Residents told us: Complaint responses needed to be clearer and more consistent.

We did:

  • set up a Complaints Residents Panel
  • review complaints regularly
  • are improving our complaints and compensation policy

Opportunities to speak to us

Residents told us: They wanted more opportunities to speak to us in person.

We did:

  • introduced tenant and leaseholder open days twice a year
  • created more opportunities to meet officers and share feedback

Housing webpages

Residents told us: Our webpages were difficult to use and information was not easy to find.

We did:

  • started improving housing webpages
  • made content clearer and easier to access
  • created videos to explain complex information

Repairs services

Residents told us: They wanted more involvement in decisions about repairs services.

We did:

  • involved residents in the tender evaluation process
  • appointed new contractors to deliver repairs services
