Some children and young people with special education needs and disabilities (SEND) will need support from social care services.
This could be because a child or young person:
- requires specialist support to meet their needs
- is at risk or is experiencing abuse, neglect or significant harm.
The majority of children and young people will have their needs met by ‘universal’ health and education services. Everyone can use these services.
For children with SEND who do receive social care services, our aim is to make sure these services meet their needs and that they, and their families, are fully involved in helping us to plan them.
Our money and benefits section of the Local Offer has more on the financial support you may be eligible for.
