Bins, rubbish and recycling
In a week where a bank holiday falls on a normal collection day:
General rubbish
The general rubbish (grey bin) will be collected as normal on a bank holiday.
Garden Waste
The garden waste (green bin) will be collected as normal on a bank holiday.
Recycling
All recycling collections during the week starting Monday, 26 August 2024, will be affected by the bank holiday. This includes:
- Recycling (blue-lidded bin)
- Blue sack (paper and cardboard)
- Food waste collections (small caddy)
These collections will be picked up the day after their scheduled day. Please check your bin collection calendar online to find out what day your recycling will be collected.
Abbey Road Reuse and Recycling Centre
- Abbey Road Reuse and Recycling Centre will be open over the bank holiday.
Brent Civic Centre
- The Civic Centre is closed to the public on a bank holiday.
Brent Customer Services Centre
The Contact Centre is always closed on bank holidays.
Some emergency services including Brent Housing Management repairs will be available on 020 8937 1234.

Noise and other nuisances
Parking
- Operating a Bank Holiday enforcement service, check if your area has bank holiday parking restrictions.
- The Notting Hill Carnival will be taking place on Sunday 25 August 2024 and Monday 26 August 2024. Find out about the parking restrictions in the area.
- Request parking enforcement action if a vehicle is parked unlawfully and is obstructing access to your driveway, a disabled parking bay or on the footway. You can make a request between the hours of 9am to 6pm, for the vehicle to be removed by calling 020 8290 8300 and selecting option 5.
- The Brent Car Pound will be open from 9am to 6pm on Monday 26 August 2024.
