Apply for a road closure

Any individual, business or organisation can apply to have a road closure, this is know as a traffic regulation order. 

Closure for roadworks

A Temporary Traffic Order must be made to allow temporary road closures and other temporary road restrictions to take place such as, turn ban, footway closure, close a footpath, no loading restrictions etc.

Cost

How to apply

Applications for planned works must be received a minimum of 12 weeks prior to the proposed start of the order. Emergency works requests must be submitted a minimum of 2 hours prior to the proposed start

Before applying, ensure you have the following information to hand:

• traffic management plan that contains a map and chapter 8 signage (photos are accepted)
• a credit or debit card to make a payment.

Close your road for children to play

Play Streets allow you to close your road for three hours at a time so children on the street can play safely outside.

Once the Borough Safety Advisory Group (BSAG) has approved the event we will require a minimum of eight week's notice before the event to carry out the required legal procedures.
