Religious education requires school pupils to engage with challenging questions about how they live with their own beliefs and about how they live with those who have different beliefs.
It is the council's responsibility, in association with the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE), to monitor and assess religious education across all of the borough's schools.
This includes designing a syllabus of religious education to fit the demands of our diverse community and developing a model for 'collective worship', encouraging all schools to promote their community's common values, aspirations and commitments./
