High streets have been hit hard by our changing shopping habits along with the uncertainty and unpredictability surrounding COVID-19.
With many of us now working from home and spending more time in our neighbourhoods, we want to rethink and revitalise them for generations to come. We want to build back better from the pandemic and for our town centres to become vibrant, attractive and inclusive spaces that you are proud of, and want to spend more time in.
This is why our new revitalisation project includes everything from aesthetic and environmental improvements, to new youth facilities, public artwork and a whole host of projects that will provide opportunities to come together and celebrate culture.
It is about creating a borough of opportunities for everyone who lives or works here.
Here is a taste of what we have planned for Wembley High Road with more information to follow soon.
Date | Planned work |
---|---|
Oct 21 - Nov 2022 | Improvement works to enhance the appearance and character of the high road The scheme is scheduled for practical completion by the end of November, although we will continue to work on elements that should not majorly affect highway use beyond this date. These elements include snagging, electrical works, extra-large sign replacement and road-marking. The exception being carriageway resurfacing which will cause some unavoidable disruption. |
Jan 22 - Mar 2023 | Roll out of new public art and installation of a mural reflecting and celebrating the local community |
Summer 2022 | Summer of culture and events |
Aug 22 - Mar 2023 | Ten shops will receive exciting makeovers |
We will be providing regular updates to all residents and businesses in the immediate area throughout implementation.
