High streets have been hit hard by our changing shopping habits along with the uncertainty and unpredictability surrounding COVID-19. With many of us now working from home and spending more time in our neighbourhoods, we want to rethink and revitalise them to become fit for purpose and to meet the future demands of the next generations.
We want to build back better from the pandemic and invest in our town centres to become vibrant, attractive and inclusive spaces that you are proud of, and want to spend more time in.
This is why our new high street recovery programme aims to revitalise and amplify our town centres’ existing assets. This includes everything from aesthetical and environmental improvements, to the introduction of a new youth facility, public artwork, an on street festival as well as a whole host of projects that will provide opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate new beginnings alongside the heritage and culture of the place. It is about creating new and better opportunities for everyone who visits, lives or works here.
