Food Alerts are issued by the Food Standards Agency when they know or suspect that there are safety problems with a particular type of food.
The alerts are used to inform local authorities and consumers of the safety concerns, and in some cases provide specific action to be taken e.g. withdrawal of the affected food from sale.
Allergy alerts
Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect.
Up-to-date information on the latest food and allergy alerts are published on the Food Standards Agency website.
