A memorial is a lasting tribute to remember the life of your loved one.
If you want to place a permanent memorial on a grave, you need to apply for a memorial permit. This must be signed by the registered grave owner and provide detailed drawings of the proposed memorial, including the dimensions and fixings of the plaque and inscription. You will need to order a memorial through a stonemason, who can also apply for the permit on your behalf.
You must wait at least six months from the burial before a memorial can be placed on the grave.
Each cemetery and some sections will have individual rules about the type of memorial, material, inscription or the size allowed for your grave so it is important to check before ordering.
