Older Person's Freedom Pass

The Older Person's Freedom Pass gives users free travel on most public transport in London 24 hours a day (after 9.30 on National Rail services within London), including all day at weekends and on public holidays. The pass can be used on:

• London buses
• London Underground and Overground
• Docklands Light Railway
• Tramlink.

Discounts are also available on fares for riverboat and cable car services.

The pass can also be used on other local bus services in London and most bus services across England.

When can I apply?

You can apply for the Older Person's Freedom Pass if you meet the age criteria and you live in London all or most of the time to be eligible for the pass.

Apply for a Freedom Pass

If you are unable to apply online, you can get a paper application form from Wembley Library. Paper forms will need to be sent to: Freedom Pass Application, PO Box 572, Hull, HU9 9LP. Make sure you put enough postage on the envelope to ensure your application is delivered.

Whichever way you apply, you will need to provide proof of your identity and age, proof of your London address and one recent colour passport-sized photograph.

If you are 60 years old or older and do not yet qualify for an Older Persons Freedom Pass, you can apply for the 60+ London Oyster photocard. There will be an application fee of £20.

Lost, stolen or damaged passes

You can find all the information you need to replace your freedom pass is lost, stolen or damaged on the London Councils website.

If you lose or damage your Freedom Pass you will be charged £10 for each replacement. A replacement pass will be sent out to you within five working days. If your card is stolen but you are unable to provide a crime reference number, it will be processed as lost and a £14.35 charge will be payable.
