Jo Jhally, 75, recently completed an 8-week diabetes peer support programme at St Cuthberts Church after learning about the programme from a flyer circulated within a WhatsApp group of residents living on his housing estate.
Jo, a retired electronics engineer, has lived in North Wembley for 35 years and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in January 2021.
Jo explained, “I joined the diabetes peer support programme because I wanted to know if there was anything else I could be doing to look after myself that I wasn’t already.
“Staff were encouraging and friendly and the group setting was useful as people could share their stories with each other.
“I think this programme is really good to have in our community as it supports diabetics to lead healthier lives by managing our diets and taking up regular exercise.”
