Technical information about this website’s accessibility
London Borough of Brent Council is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance statement
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, non-compliances listed below.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
The content listed below is non-compliant for the following reasons.
Missing page title
A small number of pages have no H1 title. This means that when these pages are viewed by a screen reader or other assistive technology the user may not know where they are on the site or what type of content to expect.
This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.2 (page titled). We are working through the remaining pages to ensure they all have titles. We aim to have this done by the end of April 2024.
PDFs and other documents
Some of our PDF Job descriptions do not meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be marked up so they're accessible to a screen reader. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role value). We aim to have this done by the end of December 2024.
These documents are essential for service delivery so we are working to identify ways in which they can be replaced with accessible HTML pages, or made accessible unless we determine that they represent a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
- We will work to resolve all identified accessibility issues that are within our control and will release them to the website as soon as possible.
- We will work to improve the accessibility of documents published on the website.
- We will run audits whenever new functionality is added to the site.
Third-party websites and applications
This service is provided by a third party supplier Oracle.
Where we use third-party applications, we cannot always guarantee that these will conform to the same levels of accessibility as the main website because they are partly or wholly out of our control.
Where we can, we will resolve the issues identified. For the issues that we cannot fix ourselves, we will work with our supplier to see how we can resolve any identified issues to make the system more usable for all users.
